Chaplaincy plays a vital role when it comes to fulfilling our mission of “Following Jesus, building families, fulfilling potential.” It instils our belief that students should be offered a holistic educational experience, with opportunities to nurture their spirituality and personal growth through prayer, worship, and loving service. By engaging in a range of chaplaincy activities – such as liturgical celebrations, outreach, and leadership opportunities – students are empowered to live out their faith, build meaningful relationships, and respond to the needs of others. This provision ensures that they are equipped to grow in confidence, develop a deep sense of justice, and fulfil their potential as disciples of Christ in both the school and wider community. 

Our Chaplains

The school chaplains, Mrs. O’Brien (NPCAT Lead Lay Chaplain) and Mrs. Sanders, work closely with the Diocese, senior leaders, staff, students, and parish communities to ensure the Catholic life of the school remains vibrant, inclusive, and rooted in the Gospel.

They are visible and accessible within the school, accompanying students and staff on their journey in faith, at whatever stage they might be at, offering support, spiritual guidance, pastoral care, and active participation in the life of the Church.

Chaplaincy supports the school in four key areas:

1. Evangelisation and Catechesis – proclaiming the Word of God and deepening understanding of Catholic teaching and tradition.
2. Prayer, Worship and Spiritual Development – fostering encounter with Christ through liturgy, prayer, reflection, and the sacramental life.
3. Pastoral Care and Accompaniment – Providing support in times of joy, challenge, and difficulty.
4. Parish, Home, and School Partnership – building strong connections between the school, local parishes, and families, ensuring that outreach to the parish, local community and wider world is at the heart of our school life. 

Prayer & Worship

Daily Prayer
Prayer and worship are integral to daily life at Trinity Catholic College, with each day beginning and ending in prayer. Students are given opportunities for prayer during form time, either within their form groups or as a year group in Celebration of the Word. These opportunities allow students to engage with a variety of creative and meaningful forms of prayer that help nurture their spiritual growth.

Sacramental Life
Celebrating the Sacraments of Mass and Reconciliation is very important to us and, with the support of our local clergy, we are able to come together to celebrate these Sacraments, either as a whole school, as a year group or on a voluntary basis. 

The Chapel
The school chapel is at the heart of the school and is central to our spiritual life, offering a sacred space for prayer, reflection, and quiet encounter with God. Regularly used by both students and staff, it plays an important role in supporting spiritual and emotional wellbeing across the school community. 

Chaplaincy Groups & Student Leadership

Student leadership is a vital expression of chaplaincy, giving students the opportunity to live out the school’s mission and Catholic Social Teaching in practical and meaningful ways. These groups build a strong connection between the school, local parishes, and the wider community, offering students valuable outreach opportunities. Our chaplaincy groups include:

• • Youth SVP (St Vincent de Paul Society)
    Serving those in need within the local community through practical action and compassion, the Youth SVP works closely with local parish SVP conferences. Students learn to put their faith into action by directly supporting those who are vulnerable or in need.
  • CAFOD Young Leaders
    This CAFOD-led programme, available to Year 10 and Year 12 students, encourages engagement with global justice issues. Students develop a strong sense of solidarity and a commitment to addressing poverty and inequality on a global scale, learning how they can make a difference in the world.
  • Growing in Faith Team
    The Growing in Faith Team offers students a space to deepen their own faith and understanding in a non-judgemental and welcoming environment for students of all faiths and none. The team leads prayer and faith-based initiatives across the school, helps to maintain sacred spaces, and fosters an inclusive spiritual community.

• • Music & Worship Groups

We have a variety of music and worship groups. Through participation in the Worship Band, Choir, and ‘Come and Sing’ sessions in the chapel, students use their gifts to praise God and contribute to a joyful, prayerful environment. These groups play an important role in enhancing our worship services, allowing music to become a powerful expression of faith and creating a vibrant spiritual atmosphere at Trinity Catholic College.
